Crazy 2248 Link

Crazy 2248 Link takes the number-merging idea and gives it a chain instead of a swipe. You link neighbouring tiles that share a value, and when you release, the whole chain collapses into one tile of the next value up. Two twos become a four; four fours become a considerably larger four-step jump.

That is the crucial difference from the sliding version of this genre: chain length compounds. A link of six identical tiles is worth vastly more than three links of two, because each additional tile in the chain pushes the result another step up the ladder. Players who reach the big numbers are the ones who spend most of their turns arranging rather than merging.

The stated goal is the infinity block, by way of 1024, 2048 and 4096. Realistically, the target is your own previous best, and the board is small enough that a run takes minutes rather than an evening.

1. Find neighbouring tiles that carry the same number.
2. Press and drag across them to build a link, then release to merge the chain into one higher tile.
3. Extend chains as far as you can — length, not frequency, is what pushes the value up.
4. Keep the high tiles together in one corner so they stay linkable.

Merge towards your existing biggest tile, not away from it. A new high tile stranded on the far side of the board is nearly impossible to bring back into a chain, and that stranding is what ends most runs well short of 2048.
