Garden Tales is the long-haul end of the genre. The board is a landscaped garden, the pieces are flowers, fruit and mushrooms, and there are over 700 levels behind it — which changes what the game is for. This is not a five-minute filler; it is something you return to.

Matching more of one kind at a time pays off directly: bigger combinations produce the extras that make later boards manageable. That matters because the obstacles stack up. Ice, puddles, stones and other debris sit on the board and have to be cleared along with the pieces, and the garden gnome, Willy, keeps the beds in order as you work through them.

The pull of it is steady progress rather than pressure. Collecting fruit baskets and working a bed back into shape is the reward loop, and it holds up over a long stretch.

1. Swap two neighbouring pieces to line up three or more of a kind.
2. Go for larger combinations — the extras they produce make the harder beds easier.
3. Clear the obstacles too: ice, puddles, stones and debris are part of the objective, not scenery.
4. Work through the levels and collect the fruit baskets as they come.

When a board is crowded with obstacles, stop chasing the biggest match and clear the debris nearest your objective first. Opening the board up usually creates the large combination you were hunting for anyway.
