Sugar Heroes

Sugar Heroes is a sweets board with a comic cast around it. The core is familiar — switch two neighbours, line up sweets in a row, watch the board collapse into the gap — but the levels are built around obstacles that a plain match will not shift, so the aim quickly becomes aiming rather than matching.

What sets it apart from most sweet-themed boards is the competitive strand. Alongside solo levels there are multiplayer tournaments, so a run can be measured against other people rather than against a personal best, and daily tasks pay gold for coming back. The mix means two quite different sessions live in the same game: a slow one where you pick apart a stubborn level, and a fast one where you are chasing someone else’s score.

The level count runs into the hundreds and the mechanics keep arriving as you go, which is what keeps the middle of the run from flattening out.

1. Swap two adjacent sweets to line up three or more of the same colour.
2. Point matches at the obstacles rather than at open space; obstacles rarely clear by accident.
3. Mix up the direction of your moves — a board worked from one side only tends to lock.
4. Enter the tournaments and daily tasks for gold once you are comfortable with the solo levels.

When a level stalls, stop looking for the biggest match and look for the move that changes the most tiles. On obstacle levels, a modest match that reshuffles half the board is worth more than a long line that leaves the layout exactly as it was.
